Basil Seeds is indigenous to the lower hills of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh and is cultivated throughout India.
It is also cultivated in Southern France, Egypt, Belgium, Hungary, and other Mediterranean countries and also in USA.

The focus of this systematic review was to study the current state of knowledge and explore the enormous potential of basil seeds as a functional food and source of functional ingredients to be incorporated into foods.
